SPRING / AUTUMN ACCADEMY, CERVIGNANO DEL FRIULI (IT)
Cervignano del Friuli is a north-italian city of approx. 14.000 inhabitants. Infra-structurally deserved by the most important European Railroad tracks.
Less than 2 hours from Villach (AT), 1.20 from Venice (IT), 40 min from Trieste (IT), 16 km by bike or bus from the Adriatic Sea (Grado), all accessible also by bike starting from VIA TRENTO, the compound, where the academy is located.
Cultural, artistic, archeologic and urbanistic treasures can be explored by bike in less than an hour, bikes can be rented at a local store for less than 20 EU a day.
Palmanova, Torviscosa (a completely undocumented artificial Town, built in the fascist era as one of five in mussolinian Italy), Gorizia and the Villa Manin wait to be explored (also by bike).
In the city of Cervignano there are outstanding monuments of modernist Architecture to be explored and made accessible by the intendant, who is in confidence with the owners of these architectonical treasures.
The Director of the Program recently had the opportunity to acquire 2 adjacent houses (one served as an artistrun Gallery in the 1990-2000) by the River Ausa, 2 min. from the Main Square and 7 min by foot from the Train Station.
FACILITIES
The compound, (VIA TRENTO 10 /12) were the SR.AUTM. ACC. Takes place includes:
# the Master’s Studio, which will be made temporarily available for visiting students;
# 2 Kitchen, 5 independent Sleeping rooms (that might serve max. 7 additional persons, with Table for Laptop work), 4 Bathrooms, 2 adjacent gardens (one with a big Table to accommodate seminars for all Participants under a Pergola); 2 fresh Water Fountains, and an independent Studio-Space next to the river (ca. 35 m2).
The latter can be used by some Students, who might want to produce materially challenging oeuvres.
In Addition to the Facilities in the Compound, a Hotel (ca. 40 EU/night) is just around the corner for participants with higher expectations (or elevated needs) to their personal comfort.
Comparable Accommodation might be supplied after negotiations with the City council of CVGN in the near future.
STRUCTURE
The participants are invited from any country reachable on the www.
Special focus will be observed by the Intendant (L.H.) to candidates applying from adjacent regions (Italy, Austria, Slovenia, also for ecological reasons, with some exceptions welcome.)
The participants can in a sustainable manner – access the SPR. And Autm. Acc By Train, or Bike.
Others, coming from more distant destinations might use the Trieste Airport (Ronci), which is around the Corner (15 min by Train).
The Course Duration is 2 weeks, in Spring starting with the Venice Biennial, in Autumn with a less luxurious program, but access still provided by the Academy.
Participants will be equipped with a VIP Card, provided by Sponsors to be approached, Italian or Austrian.
This initial input will set the topics for discussions, debates, controversies and provide the general approach: to be at the precise point in Time and Space, where acute tendencies in Art and Architecture (alternating accordingly every year) are being presented and have to be critically discussed among practitioners, students and an interested group of people, who did not choose the artistic carrier as biographical focus.
Those proposals will be discussed and practically confirmed / refused /discussed in the theoretical Input guided by the pedagogical personal under supervision of the Intendant (L.H.).
The Lecturers and teaching Artists will be chosen by the Intendant (L.H.), with a board of Professionals, Internationality is highly intended (with main Focus on EU-Countries, in Perspective of the ecologically sustainable accessibility of the Course Location). For the first Season, a Jury made up of 3 Professionals nominated by the intendant (L.H.) and his Team.
The Candidates will reply to an internet-call, divulgated on all the accessible specialized web sites.
Notwithstanding the quality of the applications, the Scheme to follow in this regard will be for the Jury:
# 4 young, not necessarily art academy -affiliated students will have a free Ticket (according to the sponsors answer)
#4 young Professionals in the Field of Art / Architecture for whom will be reserved a reduced fee
#4 Candidates, who do not necessarily have to show a professional artistic Carrier, but have to pay a regular Price, based on more refined calculations and negotiations with possible sponsors (Ca. 1.000 EU + /14days).
After 2 weeks of thorough artistic work and professional instruction, there might result material / concepts / debates to present to the civic Audience of the City and Inhabitants of CERVIGNANO.
Without making this a big Issue, the Intention is likewise to have a Presentation of 1 evening in the centrally located TEATRO PASOLINI (arch. GINO VALLE), in the Foyer, Lobby.
Which could be in this case also host for a season-lasting intervention linked to the activities and PRODUCTIONS OF THE SPR:/AUTM:ACC to be founded and sustained – according to capacities – according to interest and capacities of future sponsors.
There will be a constant following up of all activities / results / encounters, recorded / peculiarities, surveyed by the Intendant, using film /photography / physical remnants / in the perspective of building up an archive of the in/out-put of SPR/AUTM ACC.
This documentation can be presented locally in TEATRO PASOLINI (arch. Gino Valle) can be in Print, organized on a European level with a Portuguese Publishing House or locally, in Collaboration with Assoc. Cultural CERVIGNANO NOSTRA.
Physical remnants (artworks) of the courses can temporarily be stored in the compound.
PERSONAL
2 or 3 Teachers will be nominated for practical and theoretical input, orchestrated, chosen and assisted by the Intendant (L.H.)

FUNDING
# The Salary for those renowned Artist will be the main post to be acquired from different sponsors (Ministry of Culture Vienna, Cervignano City Council IT, Association Cervignano Nostra IT…..)
# Furthermore, scholarships for 4 young artists, a reduced fee for young professionals should be covered by the sponsors, the other 4 students will have to cover the full fee.
# A secretary should be rewarded for occasional office work in the preparation process of each season.
# the Jury (consisting of 3 members and the intendant has to be remunerated for 1 jury-session each season.
# VIP Tickets to visits of the Biennale di Venezia might be provided by regional authorities, or the ministry of culture, Vienna. For all the Rest, deltAfish (L.H.) will provide 7 equipped accommodation Places, Studio Space, logistics etc. I expect funding help from the city council of CERVIGNANO as to logistics, eventual exhibition / debate space open to the local public, announcement material, additional accommodation etc. from the city Council of CERVIGNANO.
Furthermore, specialized regional or European funding organisms will be approached.
